“If I get married, I want to be very married.” ~ Audrey Hepburn
Spoiler Alert
In recent accounts of Finn Rowan and Dillan Quade, at the conclusion of the book, The Word Becomes Film, would lead many to believe that this was the final chapter of the film reviewer’s days. Yet, this is not the case.
Finn had many more stories from his active life leading up to his friendship with Dillan. Much of his wisdom came from conversations and friendships with others who had entered his life at different times.
Traveling back in time
Instead of leaving those stories forgotten in the past, we thought it would be better to use the time-traveling machine of memories to share these tales. Finn and Lis had the honor of serving in different capacities through their works that involved film and the church.
Each of these accounts had a personal impact on this couple and resulted in varied results despite similar intersections through cinema, coffee shops, and families’ homes.
Some may wonder why we would look back on the life of this couple, but once you get reintroduced to them, it will quickly become evident.
To allow their history to be forgotten would be a travesty, and the hope would be for each reader to benefit from their conversations and friendships.
Consider this book as less of a prequel to the original tale and see it as a means of adding color to the extensive artwork representing their lives.
The richness of these narratives will unfold before your eyes
At the same time, each will fill the gaps left behind by the initial introduction to the Rowans.
Whether you’re seeking to strengthen your own marriage, encourage others, or find new ways to discuss faith with the couples in your life, this book will equip you with meaningful connections between the silver screen and God’s Word.
Discover how storytelling—both in Scripture and in film—can inspire, challenge, and transform lives.
