Have you been following the long-running Australian debate which raised its ugly head again recently?

You know what I’m talking about, don’t you? Potato cake or potato scallop? It’s a question that divides the nation, and rightly so.

One of the reasons I think we get so passionate about it is because where you land shows who you align yourself with.

It’s a dividing marker – are you one of us…or one of them? Dividing lines can be trivial, but of course some dividing lines are more serious. Many a war has been waged over them.

Which is one of the reasons why I love the message of Jesus so much.

There are no dividing lines when it comes to who can be in with him – all who repent and believe are welcome;

so come to Jesus and find a warm welcome no matter who you are or what you’ve done.

But for what it’s worth…they’re potato cakes.
