The full trailer for Netflix’s Lost in Space reboot just landed

And it looks insanely awesome and expensive…

A few weeks back, we got our very first look at Netflix’s forthcoming Lost In Space reboot. It looked … well, pretty much how we expected it to look: shiny, slick, perhaps a little on the pricey side (don’t worry: Netflix is spending $8B on original programming this year, they can afford it apparently).

Today we’ve got our first full-length trailer for the series. Still looks shiny, still looks very slick, but we’d like to change our minds about this show looking “a little on the pricey side” – this thing looks wildly expensive. This is neither a complaint nor a selling feature, just an observation.

Let’s take a look.

This trailer has actually got us excited for this reboot (sorry but who didn’t watch the original or reruns as a kid) but — “danger Will Robinson!” — this trailer has production value screaming out from every frame.

Here’s a very long synopsis, straight from Netflix:

Lost in Space is a Netflix Original dramatic and modern reimagining of the classic 1960’s science fiction series. Set 30 years in the future, colonization in space is now a reality, and the Robinson family is among those tested and selected to make a new life for themselves in a better world. But when the new colonists find themselves abruptly torn off course en route to their new home they must forge new alliances and work together to survive in a dangerous alien environment, lightyears from their original destination.

A Netflix Original, Lost in Space stars TOBY STEPHENS (Black SailsDie Another Day) as John Robinson, and MOLLY PARKER (House of CardsDeadwood) as Maureen Robinson, the family’s parental leaders who are struggling with their estranged relationship in the midst of trying to keep their family safe. As the Robinson kids, TAYLOR RUSSELL (Falling Skies) is the strong-willed and confident Judy, MINA SUNDWALL (Maggie’s PlanFreeheld) is the quick-witted and definitive middle-child Penny, and MAX JENKINS (Sense8Betrayal) is the curious and sensitive Will Robinson, the youngest and most vulnerable of the clan, who forms an unlikely and inexplicable bond with a sentient robotic alien being.

Stranded along with the Robinsons are two outsiders who find themselves thrown together by circumstance and a mutual knack for deception. The unsettlingly charismatic Dr. Smith played by PARKER POSEY (Café SocietyMascotA Mighty Wind), is a master manipulator with an inscrutable end game. And the roguish, but inadvertently charming Don West, played by IGNACIO SERRICCHIO (BonesThe Wedding Ringer), is a highly-skilled, blue collar contractor, who had no intention of joining the colony, let alone crash landing on a lost planet.”

And, by way of casual observation, does the trailer have a bit of a Stranger Things vibe — or is that just me?

What do you think? Are you going to give Lost In Space a shot when it hits Netflix on April 13th?

All ten episodes of Lost in Space will stream on Netflix from 13 April.
