Star Wars Episode 9: The Rise of Skywalker teaser

The Star Wars 9 trailer is finally here, and it even brought a proper title. Welcome to Star Wars Episode 9: The Rise of Skywalker, the conclusion of the trilogy of trilogies that looks like it will bring back a familiar foe. Or rather, it sounds like it – listen to the end before you read on.

We will have to wait till December to find out more for sure, but so far it seems like Palpatine could return in one of two ways: either he’s a clone, which would perhaps hew a bit too close to the endless clone ridiculousness of the old extended universe (giving rise to both Luke and Luke Skywalker), or he is a Force ghost. So far we’ve only seen Jedi like Yoda and Obi-Wan Kenobi return as blue-tinged apparitions, but if any Sith was able to figure out how to make their evil presence linger after their death, it would be Palpatine.

Are you getting ready for the global impact of Star Wars Episode 9: The Rise of Skywalker?

This explosion will be the sound heard around the galaxy… as the conclusion to the trilogy lands at Christmas. It introduces some new and some old characters with Lando sitting in the drivers seat again. Wait a minute… did we hear Emperor Palpatine at the end? We are not sure what to make of that addition.

This is merely a teaser, but JJ Abrams seems to know how to get people excited about his newest addition to the Star Wars narrative. We want to hear what you think of all the footage with Rey, Kylo Ren and Princess Leia. Will the trilogy finish strong or leave everyone gasping for air? We will have to wait to see.

J.J. Abrams confirmed that the film unfolds after the events of The Last Jedi: “Some time has gone by. This is an adventure that the group goes on together. It’s a story that I think is one of the great things about the movie – the dynamic between the characters. They are just the most wonderful together.”

Stars Daisy Ridley, Adam Driver, Oscar Isaac, John Boyega, Lupita Nyong’o and Domhnall Gleeson return, alongside Billy Dee Williams, Richard E Grant and Fisher’s daughter, Billie Lourd.

Send us your thoughts and predictions… who is the Skywalker they mention?
