Small films that deserve the spotlight

The Reel Dialogue team loves to discuss all things film and one of our favourite conversations to have with people is about their comfort films.

Defined in a previous article on Reel Dialogue: ‘Most people have that movie that they slide into the DVD player or stream on Netflix during troubled times to allow them to escape for a brief time. It is the one film that always makes you laugh or releases the floodgate of tears that are needed during this awkward stage of the night.’

Since this article, there have been quite a few people who shared different movies that provide comfort for themselves from around the world. We thought it would be worth sharing some of these films. If you haven’t seen them, give them a watch. If you have watched these buried treasure, send us your thoughts.

Criteria: There were so many suggestions that we had to narrow down the list. The criteria came down to films that were either independent releases or movies that did not fair too well at the worldwide box office. They are obscure and that is what makes them great.

Could one of these movies be your next comfort film?
