Reel Dialogue’s look at the 2020 Golden Globes

The awards season has begun and hold on, because it is going to be a bumpy ride. Things start with the 77th Golden Globes and it is all about Netflix getting the love and Disney getting the shaft. They are laughing all the way to the bank, but the real story is the streaming service making a splash with Marriage Story and The Irishman.

The story of transcontinental divorce story directed by Noah Baumbach leads with six nominations. Close on his heals was two exceptionally long films from two legends in the industry, Martin Scorsese with The Irishman and Quentin Tarantino’s with his love story to Tinseltown, Once Upon a Time in Hollywood. Each of their films received five nominations.

The Hollywood Foreign Press Association’s annual celebration will be held on 5 January with Ricky Gervais back as host. Be ready to be offended while you laugh along with the British comedian.

Reel Dialogue will give their picks and preferences from outside of the nominees who we thought should have been considered. We will only be picking the best in film, since Reel Dialogue does not write as much on television shows.
