Black Mirror gets a fifth season on Netflix

As pointed out by the good folks at Variety, it would appear that Black Mirror‘s getting a fifth season at Netflix.

The news comes to us from the Black Mirror Twitter feed…

If anything, we are surprised it took this long to be announced as Black Mirror has become the sci-fi anthology series on the streaming giant.

The fourth season of Charlie Brooker’s technophobic Twilight Zone clone dropped on Netflix several months ago, and the response was … well, it was about as divisive a response as we’ve come to expect from the Black Mirror viewership: some people loved the new batch of episodes, some claimed it was just the latest piece of evidence suggesting Brooker’s series has run out of new ideas.

Obviously, there’s not much to go on here – no announced directors, no news regarding the number of episodes, no idea when season five might hit your Netflix dashboard – but we’ll be keeping our ear to the ground for updates. Given that directors the calibre of Jodie Foster have clambered to get onboard, it will be interesting to find out what the new season will bring.
